Dec. 9 saw the English songs singing competition, one of the programs of British Cultural Festival which was intended to enhance the cultural exchange between China and U.K. and inject more variety to the festival. The competition began with the dazzling performance by the members from Hip Hop Club of SICFL.

Among the panel of judges were Professor Zhu Shichang, Ms Shen Hongbo, Ms Wu Tingting, Mr. Shen Hui and Mr. Xia Yangyang and Ms. Cui Weisong. All the students from freshmen and sophomores participated in this event. The competition was divided into two parts. During the first parts the competitors were divided into three groups and one competitor from each group with the highest score were qualified to enter the second part of the competition. Those who were eligible to enter the second part were required to sing one-minute song without music.

Altogether there were 13 competitorsparticipatingin the competition. Their excellent performance won applauses from among the audience from time to time. Despite the cold weather, everybody in the hall felt so excited and warmhearted. Yang Qiyu from Class 1401, Li Ge from Class 1403 and Wang Kaili from Class 1413 were qualified to enter the second part of the competition. During the interval, there was aninterestinggame with representatives of the students and the teachers joining it.

The American teacher Mr. Ian also gave a wonderful performance and all theaudiencehave him thunderous applause from time to time. Li Ge won the First Place in the competition. The competition was concluded with loud clapping from the audience.
